Research shows that student achievement grows in a way that we can measure when kids are exposed to diverse perspectives overall, and when they’re taught by educators who represent them. We know that student achievement is low, and slow-growing, for students of color across the state. Teacher diversity is a real part of the solution and it lifts all kids.
That’s why DelawareCAN used data from the state Department of Education to create interactive and visual representations of diversity among students, teachers and administrators. The tool allows community members to search their districts and compare diversity among traditional public and charter schools.
