DelawareCAN Executive Director underscores urgent need to reform school funding formula

Wilmington, DE – Atnre Alleyne, Founder and Executive Director of DelawareCAN: The Delaware Campaign for Achievement Now, has issued the following response to news of an ACLU lawsuit aimed at the state’s public school funding formula:

“Delaware’s school funding formula is leaving far too many children—especially our low-income and English learner students—without the resources they need to be successful. Delaware’s students deserve better than an inequitable funding system that is one of the oldest in the country,” Alleyne said.

“DelawareCAN is committed to pushing for legislative change, and we hope ACLU’s lawsuit will prompt urgent attention, conversation, and action. We need a new and better funding formula—one that makes our children, and their quality of education, its unwavering priority.”
