In order to help all Delaware students excel, we must start with an accurate picture of the quality of their schools. Our current school reporting and accountability systems make it hard to understand how well schools are doing and to take action when they are not serving students well.
To paint a better picture, and empower educators, policymakers and families to advocate for excellent schools for all students, we must ensure Delaware’s Every Student Succeeds Act plan prioritizes transparent and actionable school accountability and reporting systems. This includes publishing a clear summary rating for each school, creating high-quality measures of school quality, and implementing effective interventions in struggling schools.
With more a more transparent and actionable school accountability system, we can better understand how kids are doing, make smarter decisions about where to target resources and efforts and ensure all students are in high-quality schools.
